A court in Dhaka imposed travel ban on Sheikh Hasina's ex-pa Jahangir Alam and his wife Kamrun Nahar on Thursday.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order in response to the plea of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC application mentioned that former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's former personal assistant Md Jahangir Alam has acquired assets worth TK18.29 crore beyond his known income source.
Jahangir has been charged under the ACC Act for committing a punishable offense by depositing or crediting a total of Tk626.65 crore in 23 accounts of 8 bank accounts with the intention of enjoying the illegally acquired money in the name of various organizations owned by him and withdrawing or transferring the deposited money through various means.
Earlier, the ACC filed a case against Jahangir Alam and his wife Kamrun Nahar on December 17 on charge of acquiring assets beyond known income.
