A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to actor Pori Moni after she surrendered in a case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud, accusing her of assault, vandalism, and intimidation.
Dhaka's Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Junayed issued the bail order following her application.
Pori Moni appeared at the court at 10am
and surrendered. Her lawyer filed for bail at 10:15am, and the judge granted bail on a bond of Tk1,000.
Earlier, the same court had charged Pori Moni and her costume designer, Junayed Bogdadi Jimi, and ordered the start of the trial.
Arrest warrants were also issued for both.
Nasir Uddin filed the case on July 6, 2022.
On March 18 last year, the investigation officer, Inspector Md Monir Hossain of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Dhaka district, submitted a report to the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court of Dhaka, confirming evidence of assault and intimidation against Pori Moni and Junaid Baghdadi Jimmy.
On April 18, the Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka, presided over by M Saiful Islam, issued summons for both accused to appear in court on June 25.
They surrendered on that date and were granted bail.
