Salman, Anisul, Palak, 5 others shown arrested in 8 cases

A Dhaka court has shown eight individuals, including Salman F Rahman, former private sector adviser to ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina, as newly arrested in four separate cases linked to Anti-Discrimination Studnet Movement protests in the capital.

The other accused are former law minister Anisul Huq, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President and ex-minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Bangladesh Workers Party President and ex-minister Rashed Khan Menon, former State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and others.

On Monday, the investigating officers presented the accused before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akhter's court, seeking approval to show them as arrested in the respective cases. The court granted the requests, and the accused were subsequently sent to jail.

In the murder case of Jisan during anti-discrimination protests in Jatrabari, the court showed Salman F Rahman, Anisul Huq, Hasanul Haq Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, as arrested.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak was shown as arrested in an attempted murder case involving student Muhammad Shamim in the New Market area.
