Ex-Iskcon leader Chinmoy's bail hearing set for January 2

A Chittagong court on Tuesday deferred to January 2 the hearing on the bail petition of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, an ex-Iskcon leader who was arrested in a sedition case.

The Chittagong Metropolitan Session Judge Saiful Islam set the new date for the hearing as the defence lawyer was absent at the courtroom at 11am.

Nesar Ahmed, Nazir of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, confirmed the information.

Meanwhile, security around the court premises and adjacent areas has been significantly tightened.

Vehicular movement was restricted, with only private vehicles allowed entry after thorough checks.

Members of the police, army, and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were deployed at key checkpoints to maintain order.
