Former member of parliament (MP) from Jhenaidah-2 constituency, Tahjib Alam Siddique, who was arrested from Dhaka on Thursday, has been placed on three-day remand in connection with three separate cases including two murders.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Romana Afroz on Friday granted a three-day remand for questioning in connection with three separate cases, including the murder of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdus Salam.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhenaidah Sadar police station Shaheen Uddin said that the police sought a 10-day remand but the court granted a three-day remand concurrently, not separately.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him from a house at Nabinagar of Savar on Thursday and sent him to Jhenaidah amid tight security, to produce him before the court.
Tahjib was shown arrested in connection with three separate cases of vandalism, arson, explosive possession and murder with Jhenaidah Sadar police station on August 19, 24 and 27 this year.
