A court has imposed a travel ban on former army chief Aziz Ahmed and his wife Dilshad Nahar Kakoli.
This order was issued on Thursday, by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Assamas Jahangir Hossain following an application from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Earlier, ACC Deputy Director Zakaria filed a petition seeking a travel ban against them. During the hearing, ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmood Hossain Jahangir presented arguments. After the hearing, the court ordered the travel ban.
In the petition, the investigating officer noted allegations against Aziz Ahmed, including abuse of power, various irregularities, and corruption, through which he and his family members have acquired assets beyond their known income.
The allegations also involve money laundering through various banks and hundis to conduct business and purchase property in Malaysia, Singapore, and Dubai.
The investigation is ongoing, and efforts to gather relevant documents and information are underway.
