Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSoD) President and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu has been remanded for five days in the case of the murder of truck driver Sujan in the capital's Mohammadpur.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman gave this order after the hearing on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier, the investigating officer of the case, Inspector (Investigation) of Mohammadpur police station Sabuj Rahman produced Inu in the court and applied for a 10-day remand along with arrest.
A hearing was held in favour of granting a 10-day remand from the state side. Inu's lawyer held a hearing seeking cancellation of remand and bail. After hearing both sides, the court ordered his remand for five days.
Earlier on August 25, a team of Detective Branch arrested Inu from a house in Uttara.
The next day, the court granted his 7-day remand in the case of the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud in the capital's New Market.
During the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 20 at around 8:30pm, truck driver Sujan was shot and killed while parking his vehicle in the Beribadh area under Mohammadpur police station. In that incident, his brother Rafiqul Islam filed a murder case.
