Govt appoints 66 new deputy attorneys general

The government has appointed 66 new deputy attorneys general to serve on behalf of the state in the higher judiciary.

The appointment was announced in a notification issued by the Solicitor's Office of the Ministry of Law on Wednesday, following the president's order.

Additionally, all deputy attorneys general appointed by Sheikh Hasina's government, except for nine recently appointed by the interim government, have had their appointments revoked.

The notification states that, under the powers granted by Section 3(1) of the Bangladesh Law Officers Order, 1972 (PO No 6 of 1972), the president has appointed 66 lawyers as deputy attorneys general of Bangladesh until further notice.
