An application has been made for lodging a case against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 34 others in connection with the death of Dhaka Times journalist Mehedi Hasan during the violence of an Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Mehedi Hasan's aunt, Rizia Begum, filed the application at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain on Sunday.
The court has also directed the Jatrabari police to submit a report within five working days on whether any case has been filed regarding the same incident.
The accused include Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Anisul Huq, among others.
Mehedi Hasan was shot dead near the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Kazla, Jatrabari, around 7:30pm on July 18 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
