3 lawyers appointed as additional attorney generals

Three Supreme Court lawyers have been appointed as additional attorney generals and nine as deputy attorney generals.

A gazette notification regarding the appointments was issued by the Law Ministry on Tuesday. 

The additional attorney generals are Muhammad Abdul Jabbar Bhuiyan, Mohammad Arshadur Rouf, and Aneek R Haque.

The notification says that the president has appointed the lawyers as additional and deputy attorney generals until further orders.

The newly appointed nine deputy attorneys generals are Aununnahar Siddiqua, Sultana Akhter, Foyez Ahmed, Md Zahirul Islam, Redwan Ahmed Ranjib, Md Manjur Alam, Samima Sultana, Mohsina Khatun, and Md Rafiqul Islam.

On August 6, the day after Sheikh Hasina stepped down, Additional Attorney General Sheikh Mohammad Morshed resigned. 

The next day, the country's 16th Attorney General, AM Amin Uddin, resigned. 

From August 6 until Monday, 70 legal officers resigned.

On Thursday, senior lawyer Md Asaduzzaman was appointed as the country's 17th attorney general.
