Chief Justice adjourns full court meeting

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has announced the postponement of the full court meeting that was scheduled to involve all the judges of both divisions of the Supreme Court.

Shafiqul Islam, public relations officer of the Supreme Court, confirmed the information on Saturday morning.

It is understood that the chief justice had called the full court meeting for 10:30am to discuss how to manage the court’s operations in the current situation, among other issues.

However, before the meeting, Asif Mahmud, an advisor of the caretaker government, labelled the chief justice a "friend of fascism," demanded his resignation, and issued an ultimatum to cancel the full court meeting.

The full court meeting typically discusses various agendas, including the administrative activities of the judiciary.

According to procedure, the chief justice convenes and presides over the meeting.
