Setu Bhaban vandalism: Rizvi, 5 others placed on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed six people, including BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on a three-day remand each in a case filed over an attack on Setu Bhaban in the capital's Banani. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi passed the order on Thursday afternoon.

The other accused are- BNP Publicity and Publication Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Organising Secretary Sayedul Alam Babul, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Member Secretary Aminul Haque, Bagerhat district BNP convener MA Salam.

Earlier, Inspector Abu Sayeed Mia of the Detective Branch (DB) Cantonment Zone, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the accused before the court and sought a seven-day remand.

The attack on the Setu Bhaban took place on July 18. 

Later, the caretaker of the Setu Bhaban Rabiul Islam filed a case with the Banani police station. According to the case statement, the bridge building suffered a loss of Tk300 crore.
