A Bandarban court has sent five more suspected members of the armed separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) to jail in connection with bank robbery and looting of money and weapons.
Chief Judicial Magistrate's court Judge Mohammad Nazmul Hossain gave the order after they were produced before the court.
The arrestees are Song Lian Bom, 25, Lalhim Sang Bom, 37, Lalchon Sang Bom, 48, Lal Pian Sang Bom, 36, and Lal Siam Thang Bom, 38.
Earlier, they were arrested in the Lairunpi Para area of ββthe district.
Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) of the court Priyal Palit said: "Five individuals arrested for a bank robbery and arms looting case involving the KNF in Ruma were presented before court. After the hearing, the court ordered to send the arrestees to jail."
On April 2, the separatist group kidnapped Bandarban’s Ruma upazila branch Sonali Bank manager Md Nezam Uddin and tried to loot Tk1.5 crore from the vault of the branch. But they were unable to take the money.
They also carried out robberies at Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank branches in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban on the following day.
