The High Court (HC) on Wednesday granted bail to BNP-backed general secretary candidate Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal in a case filed over a scuffle regarding vote counting in the recent Supreme Court Bar Association election.
A High Court bench led by Justice Md Rezaul Haque passed the order.
Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali stood for the writ petitioner.
On Monday, a Dhaka court rejected the bail application of Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal.
On March 9, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Kazal in connection with the clash over the announcement of the results of the SCBA election a day before.
On 10 March, a court approved a four-day remand for Kazal. After the remand ended on 14 March, he was sent to jail.
