SCBA polls: New High Court bench to hear bail plea of Nahid Sultana, 2 others

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan on Tuesday fixed a new bench for hearing the anticipatory bail petition of Nahid Sultana Juthi, an independent secretary candidate in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) polls, and two others over an attempted murder case.

The bail plea was sent to the High Court bench led by Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman.

On Monday, a High Court bench of Justice Md Salim and Justice Shahed Nuruddin refused to hear the anticipatory bail petition of Nahid Sultana Juthi, Advocate Shakila Roushan and Barrister Chowdhury Mousumi Fatema (Kabita).

Nahid Sultana Juth is the wife of Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash.

On March 8, Assistant Attorney General Saifur Rahman Siddiqui filed the case with the Shahbagh police station.

He accused 20 lawyers, including newly elected Secretary of SCBA Nahid Sultana Juthi and BNP-backed secretary candidate Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol.

Another 30-40 unidentified people were also accused in the case.
