A Dhaka court on Thursday ordered Khandaker Mustaque Ahmed, a donor member of the governing body of Motijheel's Ideal School and College in the capital, and his wife, a student of Class XI, not to publish videos on social media that may have a negative impact on society.
Judge Shaukat Ali of Dhaka Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal 8 gave the order after a hearing in the morning.
The directive comes amidst protests against the police's final report recommending the release of Khandaker Mustaque Ahmed and the college's principal, Fauzia Rashedi, in a case involving the alleged seduction and rape of a female student.
During the hearing, the plaintiff's lawyer Omar Faruk Faruki raised concerns about Mustaque Ahmed's alleged threats to the plaintiff and the couple's attempts to present themselves as a successful couple, which he argued was negatively impacting society and influencing younger generations.
Faruki also alleged that the accused coerced the student into marriage.
The defendant's lawyer, Khandaker Hasan Shahriar, denied the allegations and sought permanent bail for the accused, asserting that they had ceased sharing videos with the media.
After hearing both sides, the judge warned Mustaque against threatening the plaintiff and instructed against sharing such videos on social media.
The judge also granted permanent bail to the accused and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to further investigate the case.
The case was filed by the girl's father last year, and the court accepted the complaint, ordering Gulshan police station to proceed with it as a regular case.
Fauzia Rashedi, the principal of Ideal School and College, was also named as an accused in the case.
Following investigations, the investigating officer recommended the acquittal of the accused due to factual errors in the case filing.
