A Dhaka court granted the bail application of BNP Vice Chairman, former home minister, Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury in the case filed in connection with the attack on the residence of the chief justice.
His lawyer said that there is no obstacle to his release from prison as he has been granted bail in the case.
After the hearing on Thursday, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sultan Sohag Uddin gave this order on a bond of Tk10,000.
Defendant's lawyer Taherul Islam Tawhid confirmed the bail. He said that there is no obstacle to release him from prison as bail has been granted in all the cases.
Law enforcement arrested Altaf Hossain Chowdhury in Uttara early on October 4, 2023. Later, the Rapid Action Battalion’s Legal and Media Wing confirmed his arrest in a case filed over an attack on the chief justice’s residence on October 28.
The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court denied him bail on November 5 and ordered him to be sent to jail, and he has been in detention since then. There are four cases against the BNP leader.
