The High Court has directed the concerned authorities to submit the probe report in connection with the death of five-year-old Ayan Ahmed at United Medical College Hospital during a circumcision procedure on January 25.
The director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has been asked to submit the report.
The High Court bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah passed the order on Monday.
On January 14, DGHS ordered the closure of United Medical College Hospital located in the Satarkul area of Dhaka following Ayan’s death.
Earlier, a writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking its directives to compensate Tk1 crore to the family of Ayan Ahmed.
On December 31, Ayan was taken to United Medical College Hospital on Badda Madani Avenue by his father, Shamim Ahmed, for circumcision on a Tk10,000 package.
Ayan was given full anaesthesia there, reportedly without parental consent.
When, several hours after the operation, he still was not conscious, the hospital moved him to its Gulshan branch.
Following seven days of keeping Ayan on life support, medical professionals in the paediatric intensive care unit declared him dead late on January 7.
The anaesthesia was administered by Dr Sabbir Ahmed while Dr Mehzabin conducted the circumcision surgery.
