Supreme Court upholds High Court bail of BNP leader Nipun

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the High Court order that granted anticipatory bail to BNP leader Nipun Roy Chowdhury in four cases.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan dismissed four separate petitions seeking a stay on the High Court bail order.

The High Court on December 4 granted anticipatory bail to Nipun Roy Chowdhury till January 11 and ordered her to surrender before the lower courts.

The cases were filed in connection with the violence centering BNP’s grand rally on October 28, including the vandalism in Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan’s residence.
