BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Media Cell Convener Jahir Uddin Swapan and Organizing Secretary Syed Emran Saleh Prince were denied bail in two separate cases on Wednesday.
Dhaka's First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Faisal Atiq Bin Quader's court rejected the bail application of Khasru and Swapan in a case filed at Paltan police station in connection with the killing of a policeman in a clash during a BNP rally on October 28.
On November 3, the court granted six days of remand for the accused. After remand on November 9, the court ordered them to be sent to jail. They accused have been in jail since then.
A day earlier, the Detective Branch (DB) arrested Khasru at his home in Gulshan. At the same time, Swapan, a former member of parliament, was arrested at another home in Gulshan.
On the other hand, the same denied the bail application of Syed Emran Saleh Prince in a case filed at Paltan police station on charges of vandalizing the Liberation War Museum and looting weapons on the day of the BNP's rally.
On November 5, the CMM court of Dhaka granted the police three days to question the accused in custody. After the remand on November 8, the court ordered the accused to be sent to jail.
Earlier on November 4, family sources said some people in the guise of DB police took away Prince from his sister's house in Badda of the capital.
