A Naogaon court on Thursday sentenced a man to lifetime imprisonment for raping his daughter in 2020.
The court also fined him Tk100,000, in default of which, he will have to spend three more months in jail.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 and District and Sessions Judge Md Mehedi Hasan Talukder pronounced the verdict.
According to the case statement, on December 25, 2020, the man was returning home with his daughter from her tutor’s place. At one point, he sexually violated her at Noor Hussain's nursery in the upazila's Ganeshpur village of the upazila.
After returning home, the girl told her mother everything.
The rape survivour’s mother filed a case at the Porsha police station. The investigating officer of the case filed a charge sheet against the accused in court.
The case hearing commenced on May 19, 2022, and concluded on November 14 with the testimony of ten witnesses.
