A Dhaka court on Monday dismissed a petition filed to register a case against seven people, including chairman of Chambol union parishad (UP) in Bashkhali of Chittagong Mujibul Haque Chowdhury, on allegation of threatening to beat up US ambassador in Bangladesh Peter Haas.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court's magistrate Farzana Shakila Shumu Chowdhury on Monday passed this order.
The accused UP chairman is also convener of union Awami League.
International Human Rights Commission Bangladesh Chapter President MA Hashem Raju filed the plea on Monday.
The other people are Iftekhar Uddin Babu, Md Sajjad, Md Ehshan, Md Farhad, Md Nasir, and Mohammad Saiful. They are residents of Chambal Union.
CMM Court magistrate Farzana Shakila Shumu recorded the case deposition.
Later, the magistrate said that the court did not find any material to accept the case.
On November 6, Chambol UP chairman Mujibul Haque Chowdhury threatened to beat up US ambassador Peter Haas in a public meeting.
