The High Court on Monday asked the concerned authorities whether Rajshahi district unit BNP Convenor Abu Saeed Chand, who threatened to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been arrested yet.
The court also wanted to know the latest action taken by the police in this connection.
A high court bench comprising Judge Justice Md. Kamrul Hossain Mollah and Justice Md. Riaz Uddin Khan passed the order on Monday.
A video of the BNP leader's speech, given on May 19, went viral on Sunday. He said there will be no 27 points or 10 points. The only demand is to send Sheikh Hasina to the grave. “We will do everything needed to force her to resign, InshaAllah,” Abu Sayeed said.
On Sunday, Awami League announced nationwide processions and rallies in protest against the death threat.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said BNP is giving death threat to Sheikh Hasina in the name of its one-point demand.
Quader said he is issuing alert against the conspiracy going on in disguise of movement by the BNP.
