The Chamber Judge Court of the Appellate Division has upheld the High Court oder to suspend the the validity of the notice of Dhaka University's (DU) Bangla department asking its female students' to keep their ears and faces visible during examinations and presentations
The petition has been sent to the full bench of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court for hearing on May 22.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim of the Appellate Division passed the order on Sunday after hearing the application made by the DU authorities against the order of the High Court.
Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Assistant Attorney General were present in the court on behalf of DU.
Saiful Alam Barrister Belayet Hossain produced before the court for the petitioners. He was accompanied by the writ petitioner Faizullah Foyez and Mahmudul Hasan.
On February 19, a writ petition was filed in the High Court challenging the validity of the notice to keep all female students' ears and faces visible during examinations and presentations in Dhaka University's (DU) Bangla Department.
On December 11, the Bangla Department issued a notice, signed by the department chair professor Syed Azizul Hoque, asking the female students to keep their faces and ears visible during all examinations, including viva and presentations.
The notice also warned that if anyone violated the instruction, action would be taken against them as per the university regulation.
