Bail pleas of two Bangla Tribune employees rejected

A Dhaka court on Monday rejected the bail petitions of two Bangla Tribune employees, arrested and sued in a mugging case filed with Mohammadpur police station.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court-5 judge Md Hasibul Haque  passed the order when they were produced before the court for hearing of the bail pleas, reports Bangla Tribune.

Later, the court sent them to jail.

The two accused are Md Sabbir and Md Babu.

Earlier on Sunday, they were produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court.

Later, the court sent them to jail after fixing Monday for the hearing on their bail plea.

Family members said Md Sabbir and Md Babu returned home from work and went to bed on Saturday night. After a while, at around 1am, policemen from Hazaribagh outpost came to their houses and picked them up.

The case statement says that a group of muggers gathered around Boishakhi ground in the area and were planning to carry out a crime. Later, they fled the scene sensing the presence of law enforcers. However, with the help from local people, police managed to nab a couple of the suspected muggers.

On the other hand, Babu's mother Lucky Begum told Bangla Tribune that her son lives with the family in Rayerbazar, but in the case statement he was shown as a vagabond mugger.

Human rights campaigner Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) has condemned and expressed deep concern over the incident. Such intentional incidents have increased the tension between people of all classes.
