A writ was filed with the High Court seeking an investigation into the alleged nine properties owned by Awami League MP Abdus Sobhan Miah Golap in the United States, worth around $4 million.
Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the writ on Sunday.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat may hear the writ, said Barrister Sumon.
The writ seeks a High Court ruling on why the government's inaction in probing the Awami League lawmaker's corruption allegations should not be declared illegal.
The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), a worldwide network of investigative journalists, has reported that the lawmaker did not disclose his US citizenship and ownership of nine properties in New York City in his 2018 election affidavit.
Golap acquired the properties between 2014 and 2019 for around $4 million, with eight of them purchased through upfront cash payments, according to media reports.
The investigation also found no viable source of income that would have enabled him to buy the properties.
