A court in Dhaka on Tuesday dismissed the bail petition of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman in a case lodged at the capital's Jatrabari police station over his alleged involvement in militancy.
Dhaka First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Foysal Atik Bin Qader passed the order after holding a hearing on the matter.
The Jamaat chief was placed on remand twice in the case.
A team of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested the Jamaat chief in the capital's Basundhara area on December 12, 2022.
Earlier, the police arrested his son, Dr Rafat Chowdhury, the alleged chief coordinator of the banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam's Sylhet unit, in this case.
