A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to Daily Vorer Pata Editor Dr Kazi Ertaza Hssan in a fraud case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan gave the order on bond of Tk5,000, sources related to the court confirmed.
The bail has been granted till December 1, according to the court sources.
Earlier, the court sent Kazi Ertaza Hassan, director of FBCCI, to jail after the end of his one-day remand in a fraud case on Friday.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested the Daily Vorer Pata editor from his office in Dhaka's Gulshan on Tuesday night.
Abu Yusuf, PBI additional superintendent of police (media wing), said Ertaza's name had come up in the investigation of a fraud case filed at Khilkhet police station.
Md Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, deputy managing director of Ashiyan Lands Development, filed the case on January 10.
Abu Yusuf Abdullah, chairman of the board of trustees of Northern University, was arrested earlier in the case.
Two other accused in the case are Riazul Alam and Selim Munshi.
According to the case documents, the accused in collusion with corrupted employees of different sub-registrar's offices used to register lands with fake documents.
Kazi Ertaza Hassan is a member of the Awami League's subcommittee on industries and commerce and editor and publisher of The Daily People's Time.
