A Dhaka court on Thursday placed joint general secretary of Jatrabari thana Jubo Dal Mushfikur Rahman Fahim on a two-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of local Awami League Leader Abu Bakkar Siddique Habu.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid passed the order as police produced prime accused Fahim, 43, before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.
Police arrested Fahim from the Shahbagh area on August 31.
According to the law enforcement agency, Fahim orchestrated the killing of Habu over long-standing political disputes, local domination and business.
Fahim and his men stabbed and hacked Abu Bakkar Siddique Habu, 37, in the Jatrabari area on August 16 and fled the scene after confirming his death.
Habu's brother Md Bacchu Miah on August 17 filed the case against 11 with Jatrabari Police Station.
Police already arrested five out of 11 accused.
The arrestees are Mushfikur Rahman Fahim, Kana Falan, Md Selim, Md Al Amin and Sujon Akon.
