HC asks why govt never sought info of Bangladeshis from Swiss Bank

The High Court has ordered the Anti Corruption Commission and the state to explain why the Bangladesh government did not seek any information from Switzerland in regard to keeping money in the Swiss Banks. 

They have been asked to provide an explanation by August 14. 

The bench of Justice Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury gave the suo motto order on Thursday.

Previously on Wednesday, Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh Nathalie Chuard said that Bangladesh did not seek any information regarding the wealth of Bangladeshis deposited in the Swiss Banks. 

The media reports were brought to the court’s attention which prompted the court to give the order.
