A Chittagong court on Wednesday sentenced a man to life term in jail for killing his wife in Chittagong city seven years ago.
The lifer is Abdus Sattar from Comilla district.
Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman handed down the judgement.
The court also fined the convict Tk50,000, in default, to serve jail for another six months.

Sattar strangled his wife Shaheda Aktar to death and hanged the body from the ceiling fan to show it as suicide, said Chittagong Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Fakhruddin Chowdhury.
On August 4 in 2015, police recovered the hanging body of Shaheda from their home in Khulshi area of the city.
Later, police arrested Sattar in connection with the killing. During primary interrogation, he confessed to his crime.
Police submitted the charge sheet against him on October 28 the same year, and the court indicted him on August 4 the following year.
