A Dhaka court on Sunday relieved actors Tahsan Rahman Khan, Rafiath Rashid Mithila and Shabnam Faria and two others from fraud charges brought by a customer of the scam-tainted online marketplace Evaly.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasibul Haque handed down the verdict after reading the charge sheet filed against them.
The two others are Evaly Chief Marketing Officer SM Arif Reza Hossain and its Executive Abu Kayes.
However, the court has accepted the charge sheet against four people, including the e-commerce platform’s founder and CEO Mohammad Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, who serves as the chairperson of the company.
The two others accused in the charge sheet are Vice-President Abdullah Al Mamun alias Akash, and Category Head Md Abu Taher alias Saddam.
On December 4 last year, one Saad Sam Rahman started the case with Dhaka’s Dhanmondi police station, accusing Tahsan, Mithila and Faria of embezzling Tk3.18 lakh.
The embattled e-commerce platform’s managing director Mohammad Rassel and Chairman Shamima Nasrin, who served as the chairman of Evaly were also named in the case.
The plaintiff claimed that he had ordered products worth hundreds of thousands of taka from Evaly, which were never delivered to him.
Tahsan and Mithila were brand ambassadors of Evaly while Shabnam Faria served as the head of public relations.
All three actors were granted bail before.
