A Tangail court sentenced a man to death for raping and killing a 12-year-old girl in 2020.
Judge Khaleda Yasmin of Tangail Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal handed down the verdict on Monday.
According to the case statement, Majedur Rahman, 26, raped the girl at her village Moddhyapara under Mogra Union Parishad on October 9, 2020.
When she started crying and threatened to tell her parents about the incident, Majedur suffocated her to death. He hid the child’s body in nearby bushes.
Her body was found later. The brother of the victim filed a case against Majedur with Tangail Sadar police station.
