A Chittagong court on Wednesday awarded life term imprisonment to a boy for raping a schoolgirl at Bhujpur village under Fatickchari upazila of the district in 2017.
Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 judge, Begum Ferdouse Ara, pronounced the verdict convicting Mohammad Murad, son of Morohom Ali of Hazarikhil village.
The case statement said that Murad raped a schoolgirl in the Hazirkhill area on July 16, 2017.
Later, the father of the victim filed a case against Murad with the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-7.
The court framed charges against the accused on August 1, 2018.
The court on Wednesday, after examining six prosecution witnesses out of 11, awarded the judgment convicting Murad amid his presence at the court.
