Plea seeks order to sue Dr Murad for derogatory remarks

A petition has been filed with a Dhaka tribunal against former state minister Dr Murad Hasan and presenter of a Facebook live Mohiuddin Helal Nahid for making offensive comments about Zaima Rahman, granddaughter of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Bangladesh Youth Forum leader Mohammad Saidur Rahman filed the petition at the court of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Ash Shams Jaglul Hossain on Monday.

After a hearing, the court said it would issue an order after reviewing the plaintiff's statement that sought an order to sue the duo under the Digital Security Act.

Lawyer Abu Yusuf Sarkar stood for the plaintiff.

On December 12 last,  Omar Farooq Farooqi, leader of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum, also sought to file a case against the duo with the same court on the same charge. A day later, the court dismissed the plea.

Dr Murad was forced to resign from cabinet and was also expelled from the party after his remarks in a Facebook live against the BNP leaders went viral on social media.
