Three BNP leaders in Rajshahi have secured bail in a sedition case.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge AHM Elias Hossain passed the order on Sunday noon.
The three leaders are - an Adviser to the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and former Rajshahi city mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu, Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP President Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Milon.
According to the Lawyer of the defendants, Ali Ashraf, the three accused leaders surrendered themselves around 1:30pm on Sunday in front of the Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court. The defendants' lawyer had filed a bail petition with the court and upon hearing the arguments, the judge granted the bail.
The sedition case was filed by Mosabbirul Islam, legal affairs secretary of the Awami League’s Rajshahi Metropolitan unit, at Rajshahi Metropolitan Chief Magistrate's Court 2 on March 16.

In regard to BNP leader Minu threatening the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina publicly at a rally in Rajshahi on March 2, the Rajshahi unit of Awami League filed an application with the deputy commissioner and the district magistrate seeking permission to lodge the sedition case.
On March 9, the deputy commissioner's office sent the application to the Home Ministry.
Following approval of this application on March 15, the court took cognizance of the case.
On March 31, arrest warrants were issued for the three accused.
On August 26, the High Court granted anticipatory bail for four weeks.
