Helena Jahangir remanded for 14 days in four cases

A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Helena Jahangir, who recently lost her Awami League post, on remand for a total of 14 days in four cases filed with two police stations.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahinur Rahman passed the order after the accused was produced before the court following the completion of a three-day remand in a case filed with Gulshan police station.

Pallabi police will get four days each to interrogate her in two cases — one filed under the Telecommunication Act, another over fraud.

Meanwhile, Helena will be in the custody of Gulshan police for three days in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

Besides, Gulshan police have been granted another three days to quiz her in a Digital Security Act case. She was initially put on remand for three days in the case on Friday.

Law enforcers arrested Helena Jahangir during a raid at her Gulshan residence in the capital on Thursday night.

During the raid, RAB seized a huge quantity of liquor, casino equipment, walkie-talkies and knives from Helena’s residence.

She is also facing charges in cases filed under the Wildlife Protection Act and the Special Powers Act.
