Verdict on Aduri torture case July 18

A Dhaka court has fixed July 18 for delivering verdict in a case filed in connection with the torture of domestic help Aduri. Dhaka Women Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 3 Judge Joyoshree Samaddar fixed the date Sunday afternoon. On October 10, 2013, investigation officer submitted charge sheet against five accused— Norin Jahan Nodi, Nodis’ mother Ishrat Jahan, her husband Saiful Islam Masud, Masud’s bother-in-law Syed Chunnu Miah, Chunnu’s bother-in-law Md Roni. Later, Masud, Chunnu and Roni's names were dropped from the charge sheet.

A patrol team of Cantonment police station rescued Aduri in serious condition from near a dustbin in DOHS Baridhara on September 23, 2013. On September 26, Aduri’s uncle Md Nazrul Chowdhury filed a case against Nodi and three others under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2003 with Pallabi police station. Later, Nodi was arrested on October 26 the same year.
