A Dhaka court Monday accepted the supplementary charge sheet against three ex-army official in connection with the case filed over Maj Gen Abul Manzoor murder in 1981.
Judge Dilara Alo Chandana of the First Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka accepted the charge sheet in presence of the accused in the case.
The accused in the supplementary charge sheet are -- Maj (retd) Kazi Emdadul Haque, Lt Col (retd) Mostafa Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan and Lt Col (retd) Shamsur Rahman Shams.
The court also ordered the release of late Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad and Major (retd) Abdul Latif from the charge sheet as they have passed away.
The court fixed April 6 for the prosecution witness in the case.
On January 13, Md Kutubuddin, a superintendent of police at CID and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the supplementary charge sheet before the court.
Earlier on February 27, 2014, the same court on a petition filed by Special Public Prosecutor Asaduzzaman Khan Rochi ordered further probe into Manzoor murder and verdict on the case was at the final stage.
Manzoor, commander of sector-8 during the liberation war, was killed at Chittagong Cantonment on June 1, 1981 just two days after the killing of President Ziaur Rahman.
Fourteen years after the murder, on February 28, 1995, Barrister Abul Mansoor Ahmed, brother of slain Gen Manzoor, filed a case with Panchlaish police station in Chittagong.
On June 27 in 1995, the CID submitted chargesheet to the court against the accused in the much-talked-about case.
