A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered to publish a notice in national daily newspapers summoning sacked army major Syed Ziaul Haque to appear before it in the case over the murder of writer and blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy.
Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondol issued the order after receiving the execution report of arrest warrant and property attachment. The court fixed February 11 for submission of a copy of a newspaper with the notice to the court.
On October 4 last year, Md Akhtaruzzaman, an inspector of DMP’s CTTC unit and also investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet 13 suspects - including sacked army major Syed Ziaul Haque - to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.

The other accused in the case are – top Ansarullah Bangla Team activists Tarikul Islam, Masum Rana, Khairul Islam alias Fahim alias Jishan, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Saad Al Nahiyan, Kamal Hossain, Kawsar Hossain, Mortuja Faysal, Mufti Abdul Gaffar, Abu Siddique Sohel, Arafat Rahman Siam, and Mozammel Hossain alias Saimon.
The IO showed Zia as a fugitive in the charge sheet.
According to the case statement, unknown assailants brutally hacked Niloy, 27, to death at his rented flat in Dhaka on August 7, 2015. Niloy worked at an NGO called Research and Development Collective.
After the murder, Asha Moni, the victim’s wife, filed the murder case with Khilgaon police station against four unidentified individuals.
