HC wants info on private hospital’s licence

The High Court (HC) on Monday ordered the state to let it know the number of private hospitals across the country with licence and those, whose licence is under the process.

A High Court virtual bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman passed the order after holding a hearing on a writ filed in this regard.

The court asked the prosecution to provide a report on this by September 2.

Barrister Abdul Halim and Advocate Ishrat Hasan moved the plea before the court, while Deputy Attorney General Amit Das Gupta stood for the state.

“The writ was filed, pleading for court’s direction for publishing list of Covid-19 dedicated hospitals and hospitals and diagnostic centers with appropriate licences.

“The court will pass further order in this regard on September 2,” said Barrister Abdul Halim.

The Health secretary, home secretary, director general of Directorate General of Health Services, and managing director of Regent Hospital were made respondents in the writ.
