HC denies bail to former Dhaka Bank vice president

The High Court has denied bail to Dhaka Bank's former vice president Md Aminul Islam in connection with a corruption case.

The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order after hearing the bail petition filed by Aminul.

The court also issued a rule asking the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the government to explain in three weeks why accused Aminul should not be granted bail in the case.

Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik accompanied by Assistant Attorney General Mahjabin Rabbani represented the state while Advocate Quamrun Nessa Ratna represented the ACC.

Sheikh Awsafur Rahman stood for Aminul.

The ACC filed the case with Dhanmondi police station on December 23, 2018 against Aminul and six others on charges of misappropriating Tk21,24,91,471 from the bank by submitting fake export bills.
