HC: Display Bangabandhu’s portrait in parliament-session room

The High Court has directed the government to preserve and display the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the parliament-session room at Jatiyo Sangshad Bhaban.

The bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman passed the order on Tuesday after virtually hearing a writ petition in this regard.

The secretary to the National Parliament Secretariat was ordered to comply with the directive and to submit a report to the court within a month.

Advocate Subir Nandi Das stood for the petition; Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Amit Dasgupta represented the state.

On August 12, Advocate Subir filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking its directive upon the government to preserve and display the portrait of Bangabandhu in the parliament-session room.
