The chamber judge’s bench at the Supreme Court has upheld a High Court order that asks Delhi Public School Society (DPSS) Dhaka's Uttara branch to allow its students to join online classes, even if they have not paid tuition fees amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The bench of Justice Nuruzzaman upheld the High Court order on Wednesday, and sent the appeal, filed by the school authority, to the Appellate Division for hearing on August 16.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the school authority, while advocate AM Aminuddin, accompanied by Barrister Ashrafuzzaman and Mohammad Omar Faruk, represented the writ petitioner.
Earlier on July 15, the High Court ordered the DPSS authority to allow those students who have not been able to clear due tuition fees to attend their online classes.
The court also asked the director general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) to dispose of an application, which was filed by a DPSS student's guardian, Kamruzzman, within seven days.
Later, the school authority filed an appeal against the High Court order.
