The High Court has rejected the bail petition of Mohammad Ali in connection with Tangail's freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed’s murder case.
The bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim passed the order on Tuesday after holding a virtual hearing of the bail petition.
Barrister Mohammad Abdul Muntakim joined the hearing on behalf of Ali and Deputy Attorney General Md Bashir Ullah stood for the state.
On September 6, 2017, a Tangail court charged then Awami League lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana, Mohammad Ali, and 12 others with the murder of Faruk.
On January 18, 2013, the dead body of Faruk was found near his College Para home in Tangail.
Faruk’s wife Nahar Ahmed filed the murder case with Tangail Model police station.
Police arrested the accused Mohammad Ali on August 25, 2014.
