The High Court has directed the Bar Council to form a committee so that it can monitor whether health guidelines are being properly maintained at all bar association premises to curb the spread of Covid-19.
It also asked the council to submit a report in this regard by July 5 after complying with the directive.
The bench of Justice JBM Hassan issued the directive after the virtual hearing of a writ petition on Wednesday.
Earlier on June 3, two Supreme Court lawyers, Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallob and Barrister Mohammed Kawsar, filed the petition with the High Court seeking its directives on taking necessary health measures at the court and bar association premises amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
On June 15, the Bangladesh Bar Council issued a 10-point health safety guideline to be strictly followed at all bar association premises across Bangladesh in a bid to stop the further spread of Covid-19.
