Tarique, 10 others sued for threatening PM

A case has been filed against BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and 10 others for allegedly issuing a death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddiqui filed the case with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shattabrata Shikder’s court on Thursday. 

Other leaders named in the case include BNP's Dhaka metropolitan north unit Vice Chairman Rabiul Awal Sohel, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders Md Afzal Hossain, Md Mujibur Rahman, Md Abdul Karim Hafez Md Didarul Islam, Zakir Hossain, Md Abdul Halim, Md Saddam Hossain, Abdullah and Md Mojibur Rahman Sheku.

According to the case documents, the accused went to Siddiqui’s office at Mirpur 1 and asked for his address and issued a bomb threat if BNP leaders and activists including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia were not released from prison within a week.

The document cited the accused as Tarique’s associates whom he ordered to kill Sheikh Hasina.
