HC to DNCRP: Set up consumer hotline service in 3 months

The High Court has ordered the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) to launch a hotline within three months in order to receive complaints from the consumers and provide service on an emergency basis.

The court on Tuesday asked DNCRP to set up the hotline through outsourcing.  

The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order while hearing a writ petition filed earlier in this regard.

During the hearing, Director Shamim Al Mamun, and a director of admin and finance division appeared before the court and apologized unconditionally.  

On August 20, the High Court summoned the DNCRP director hear him explain the reason behind needing Tk50 lakh to install the consumer service hotline. 

On June 16, the same bench ordered DNCRP to introduce a hotline within two months.
