The High Court has stayed the trial proceedings of four violence cases filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The High Court bench of Justice Md Miftah Uddin Choudhury and Justice ANM Bashir Ullah passed the order on Thursday, after hearing separate petitions filed by the BNP chief.
Khaleda filed the petitions on Wednesday, challenging the lower court's order of taking into cognizance the charge sheets filed in the cases.
Of the cases, three were filed with Darussalam police station while another with Jatrabari police station.
Deputy Attorney General Shaikh AKM Moniruzzaman Kabir said: "The proceedings will be stayed till a ruled issued in this regard is disposed off.
"We will appeal against the High Court order."
