Court summons Prof Yunus in civil suit

A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued a summons to prominent economist and Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus and 11 others, after Taj Enterprise in Savar filed a law suit claiming the accused had failed meet their end of an agreement. Second joint District Court Judge Shahadat Hossain passed the order after taking the charges into cognizance. The court also set May 23 for submission of written statements. According to the case statement, Taj Enterprise owner Bahadur Islam filed the civil suit on March 30 claiming that the 12 defendants had issued a work order to fill a plot of land in Ashulia with sand. Taj Enterprise is owed Tk4.16cr from the defendant company as per the agreement, which is yet to be paid, claimed the plaintiff.
